The process

How it works

  1. Apply

    Fill in the short form below. It takes about ten minutes.

  2. Share documents

    If you're a fit, we'll write to you and ask for admission and fee documents.

  3. Talk with us

    A conversation with the trustees, so we can understand your plans.

  4. Get approved

    Two trustees sign off. Fees go straight to your institution, term by term.

  5. Study

    We stay in touch through your course, and agree your repayment plan before you graduate.

Frequently asked

How much can I borrow?

It depends on your program, your total costs and the support you already have. We look at each application individually and discuss the amount with you.

When do I start repaying?

After your course ends and a grace period passes. We agree the schedule with you up front, sized to what you can manage.

Can I apply before I have an admission offer?

Yes. We'll need your admission letter before anything is approved, but applying early gives us time to get to know you.

What if I can't repay on time?

Tell us as early as you can. We'll pause your repayments and work out a new schedule together.

How long does a decision take?

Usually a few weeks from when we receive your documents. We'll keep you updated by email and WhatsApp.

About the foundation

The man behind the name

R. B. Mehta came to Bombay with almost nothing, and built everything that followed.

He built a life, and then he made room in it for everyone he loved.

Along the way he learned what truly lifts a family. It isn't luck or money. It's education. So when the moment came, he gave it everything he had. When that wasn't enough, people he had never met stepped in and carried his sons the rest of the way.

He never forgot that kindness, and always wanted to pass it on.

This foundation is how we keep that promise for him.

His sons set up the R. B. Mehta Foundation to keep his belief working. It lends without interest, so each student's success can fund the next one, again and again.

Every loan is reviewed and signed off by the trustees personally. We meet the students we support, and we stay with them through their studies.
